We have several exciting events planned for the new year and hope to see you there!
This past year has seen an enormous growth in girl membership in our area and we are desperately in need of more volunteers to help us organize events at the service unit level. Turn out at events has been exceeding expectations and unfortunately, we have had to turn some troops away. If you are interested in joining our leadership team or just helping out, please contact us. We cannot offer events without troops and adults to plan and organize them. The service unit is an all-volunteer organization and that means we need you.
Cookie Rally
Our annual Cookie Rally (Jan 7) booked solid almost instantly. Thanks to the whirlwind efforts of Crystal Judy and Mary Hutchinson, we are now offering a second rally on Jan 14. If you see those two ladies, please give them a high five. If you are still wait-listed for the Jan 7 rally and can attend the Jan 14th rally, please let us know. If you or any members of your troop signed up for the Jan 7 rally and will not be attending, please let us know so we can approve some of the girls on the wait list.
Skate Party
Our annual skate party will take place Saturday, Feb 10 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Penn Skates. We are asking that people register and pay prior to Jan 28. This will allow us to pay Penn Skates for the facility rental. Unlike past years (when we had a larger balance in the SU account), we are funding the facility rental through admission fees.
We are also going to be requiring rosters for ALL events we do registration for (starting with the skate party). This process change is designed to keep us in line with the GSHPA safety checkpoints and help us make sure people are properly registered for events. If this puts undue burden on the troop leaders, you can have individual parents register their girls themselves. Troop leaders will be able to see the reservations for their entire troop.
After you submit a roster and it is approved by the event coordinator, you will be able to pay online using a credit card or mail a check to the service unit.
Camp
C/S/A Winter Camp
Winter Camping for Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors will take place Feb 2-4. Please register before Jan 13. There is no planned programming for this weekend, but if troops are interested, they may collaborate on journey work or other desired programming. We are also planning to have some guests come to camp to talk to the girls about working as female engineers, radio communications, and launching weather balloons.
Spring Camporee and Daisy Day
Our annual spring camporee and Daisy Day will take place April 20-22. Early registration will run from Feb 11 – March 11 and regular registration will run until March 25 (or camp is full). Please discuss with your troops and families and register ASAP, as we also expect this event to fill quickly. We will have detailed registration and pricing information available in early January.
Summer Camporee
Our annual summer camporee and Daisy Day will take place Jun 30 – July 2. Note that camp will run Saturday – Monday (no Friday arrivals). Registration will open on April 1 (no foolin’).
