This week we are heading to the Shingle Mill Trail which is located in Black Moshannon State Park. The trail meanders along the Black Moshannon creek so you can enjoy hearing the water as you hike along. There are some rocks and roots to be mindful of, but nothing too tricky. The trail is narrow so single file hiking is best. It is shaded and cool.

Distance: 3.5 miles out and back; 144 foot elevation change. This is another out and back hike so you can decide how long you wish to hike.
Directions: The entrance to this hike is in Black Moshannon State Park. If you head to BM and pull into the main tiered beach parking lot off of route 504, continue past the parking area to Benner Run Rd. which takes you to the dam area parking lot. Park there and then walk to the trail head which will be on your right hand side after you cross over the bridge. The attached map shows you starting in the parking lot area. There will be a rattle snake info display at the trail head. Note, we did not see any rattle snakes on our hike.
