From the alumni group of Camp Barree- a former Girl Scout in Huntingdon County, PA
“We’re going to place a plaque at Camp Barree to recognize the existence of the camp and its importance as a Girl Scout camp for many years. One of the expenses associated with its placement is to clear an area underneath it and provide something shielding the soil from regrowing grasses and other living materials which would make it unable to be viewed in the future. Though we had looked at hiring a landscaper to do the job, I had wondered whether someone might wish to do a Gold Award or Eagle Project to take care of the landscaping. Do you think this is something which might be an appropriate project?”
I thought this would be good to bring to the service unit if a scout is looking for a Gold award or something that the service unit would like to help with in the interest of local Girl Scout history. Could you bring it up at the meeting and see what people think. If someone is looking for a Gold idea this might be a good one. If anyone is interested I can help with contacts.
