Let’s give thanks and celebrate the sisterhood of Girl Scouts in State College! Save the Date for Troopsgiving on Sunday November 24th from 4-7pm at the Mount Nittany United Methodist Church. See attached flyer!
We will do a progressive dinner in which each troop will provide some element of the meal (appetizer, entree, dessert). Each part of the meal will be served by the group of troops signed up for that part. This is a great activity for those troops wanting to work on their legacy cooking badges (Brownies Snacks, Juniors Simple Meals, Cadette New Cuisines, Senior Locavore, and Ambassador Dinner Party badges). If older troops want to help with table scapes, menu planning, or other aspects of the meal, including clean up, please contact Nicole Moore at nicole.ruffo10@gmail.com. Community service hours are available for this!
After the meal, we will have activity stations where girls will learn about traditional Girl Scout skills and complete their Girl Scout Ways Badges. If the troop, troop leaders, or parents are willing to teach one of the skills listed as an activity, please sign up for that as well. Some suggested ideas include: knot tying, GS Songs/make a songbook, SWAPS, GS fashion show (we have supplies!), fire building/fire safety, trail signs/orienteering, sit upon craft, knife safety, ASL version of GS promise. We ask each troop to please sign up to bring an appetizer, entree, or dessert that would serve 12 people. In the meal portion of the signup, please indicate the number of attendees from your troop in parentheses.
If you have a scout with food allergies, please encourage parents to pack something for them. Troops will be preparing food items and it is not possible to prevent cross contamination with food allergens like peanuts or gluten.
