Everything at Santa’s workshop seems normal – the Present Making Elves are busy making presents, Present Wrapping Elves are busy wrapping presents, and Reindeer Training Elves are teaching the reindeer to fly. Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts have even come to learn how to make some Elf Magic in the Elf Laboratory. From what it looks like, this Christmas will be even better than the last!
Until the presents mysteriously vanish into thin air!!! Now it’s up to the Girl Scout Detectives to find the culprit, locate the presents, and save Christmas! Can they solve the mystery before it’s too late or will Christmas be ruined?
Event Details
The Juniors of Girl Scout Troop 40170 are planning an exciting mystery weekend for their sister scouts. While adults will be helping them, please keep in mind that this event will be planned and executed by 4th and 5th grade Girl Scouts. While adults are always responsible for supervising girls, we do ask our participating adults to be respectful of the fact that the program is being run by the girls.
Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts from Service Unit 416 are eligible to participate in this event. Due to limited space, girls from outside our service unit are not eligible to participate.
Camp Schedule
Camp will begin on Saturday, Dec 14th at 9AM. Girls can begin arriving at camp at 8:30AM.
Camp will end on Sunday, Dec 15th at 10AM.
While we encourage all girls to stay overnight, we will be wrapping up our mystery on Saturday around dinner time. Participants who choose to not stay overnight, should plan to spend dinner with us. We do not have a hard end time for day only as camp time can be fluid.
Cost
The cost for this event is $30 per Daisy/Brownie and $15 per adult.
This cost is driven by the cost to rent Legacy Lodge. If we do not have sufficient participation to pay for the lodge, we will contact participants and either increase the rate or cancel the event.
If we exceed our expect participation and generate a profit on the camp, any proceeds will benefit the Bronze project for the Troop 40170 5th grade Juniors. For this project, we will be creating birthday kits for food banks.
This event is eligible for Outdoor Experiences Financial Aid through GSHPA. Girls are eligible to apply for Financial Assistance for SU Day Camp and Outdoor Experiences by filling out this form.
Meals
All meals (Saturday lunch, and dinner and Sunday breakfast) are included in the cost of this camp. Please be sure to note any dietary restrictions on the registration form.
Deadlines and Registration
Registration will open on November 1st and continue until November 22nd or the lodge is full. All fees are due immediately upon your roster being accepted.
When registering, please have the following pieces of information available for each participant:
- Name and emergency contact information
- Allergies (nuts, dairy, etc)
- Restrictions (vegetarian, no pork), or anything else you think we need to know to make sure everyone has the best camp experience possible. Do not assume that our definition of “kosher” matches your definition!
- If we can publish photos of your group on this website or not.
Troop leaders, if collecting this information from your parents is difficult, you are welcome to have individual parents submit roster information for their own girls.
Parents, if your troop is attending, check with your leader to see if they are handling the registration.
Please be respectful of our deadlines. Space for this event is very limited.
Overnight? With Daisies?
This is an overnight camping event that begins on Saturday morning. We encourage all groups to join us overnight. However, we realize that not every group is ready for this experience.
If your group is NOT ready for an overnight, you can choose to do a day only event. Please note that our costs are driven by the cost to rent Legacy Lodge so there is no cost differential for leaving early. Please indicate on registration form if a participant will NOT be staying overnight.
For troop leaders bringing our littlest scouts overnight without their parents, please know your girls and make sure they will be comfortable being away from their parents for a night.
Please note that all adult leaders will be required to help facilitate activities at camp. There is no dedicated camp staff and with a small group, everyone will need to help out.
Male leaders staying overnight will have a separate sleeping area from the girls. Please note – this area will be inside the lodge. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
Winter?
This camp will take place in December. The weather is likely to be cold and snowy and we do plan on exploring our winter world.
While we will be sleeping in the heated lodge, all participants should be prepared to go outside in the snow. Please bring snow pants/coats, waterproof gloves, hats, and an extra change of clothes.
